If you are riding a new York city subway, walking down the street, or simply looking at the faces of people driving in their cars, have you ever noticed how many are smiling versus how many are not?
I find myself watching people as they drive. It amazes me what goes on in cars. There is a lot of seriousness, a bit of frowning, some dazed looks of distance, and people busy on cell phones. Sometimes I will see people happily talking to others in the car. On occassion there is the person that is singing to themselves, really feeling the music they are listening to. This will often create a smile in others or at least a pause.
It is interesting that when we are by ourselves, there is not a consciousness to smile just because. Smiling is a habitual response along with a feeling one. We can train ourselves to be happy. We can choose to be happy. We can make a conscious effort to recognze happiness regardless of what is going on in our world. It is a choice…
There are many studies now that prove just the act of smiling can create physiological responses toward better health and well being. Just the act of smiling triggers the mind to believe we are happy. In some studies that have been run, cancer patients that forced themselves to smile constantly had a faster improvement in health and a higher remission rate than those that were not conscious of it.
So today …SMILE. If you do not feel like it or circumstances are not what you might wish, fake it until you make it. What have you got to lose…except maybe a frown.
All you have to do is…
BELIEVE…Beyond the Illusion!!!
